From what I learned, the only people buried at the fort were those who died there. The wounded Survivors from the Battle of the Little Big Horn who were returned to Fort Lincoln by steamboat all died and were originially buried at the Fort's cemetery.... however they were eventually all returned and buried at the Battle site. You will find both native american and white americans buried in the cemetery. I was surprised to see some of the Native American graves were marked as being "Ree". Later we found out that they were from the Cree tribe and acted as scouts. I could find no listing of burial at the Fort. Maybe the Mandan Historical Society has a website you could check?? Mandan is about in the middle of North Dakota on I 94. It is a bit of a ride to the Montana border. I'm sorry but I am not familiar with Waltman Montana.
