Egg prices across the country have skyrocketed in the face of inflation and an avian flu epidemic that has led to the killing of tens of millions of hens across the country.

Seven days after Colorado started requiring eggs to come from cage-free hens, a new state representative introduced a bill to repeal the law. Representative Ryan Gonzalez's House Bill 25-1074 seeks to eliminate the hen confinement standards passed by state lawmakers in 2020.

Spurred by rising prices, Republicans tried to repeal a law that went into effect this year that requires large egg producers to be cage-free.
