General Motors has reached an agreement with battery materials producer Vianode that will develop and supply synthetic anode graphite for the automaker’s battery manufacturing.

The deal, with Norway’s Vianode, is for delivery of a material critical for electric-vehicle batteries, the companies said Wednesday.

General Motors has signed a multi-year, multi-billion dollar agreement for Norway's Vianode to provide the U.S. automaker with synthetic graphite anode materials for its electric vehicle batteries, the companies said on Wednesday.

The "multibillion"-dollar deal, according to a news release, covers supply of synthetic anode graphite toward 2033.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) announced on Wednesday that it inked a multi-year agreement with Norwegian company Vianode that will run from 2027 until 2033. The multi-billion dollar deal will see Vianode provide GM (NYSE:GM) with synthetic graphite anode materials for its electric vehicle batteries.
