The hope for a Florida snow has given way to early worries about the small possibility of a "high impact event" next week involving freezing rain that could coat the region in ice.

A new winter storm will bring rain and some of the coldest temperatures of the season to the southeastern United States, including much of Florida.

The Weather Channel has named the storm Winter Storm Cora, and it’s expected to bring more days of subfreezing temperatures to northern Florida and parts of Central Florida. The frigid temperatures may be responsible for one death in the Florida Panhandle.
