Penguins call-up Matt Nieto and Vasily Ponomarev, send Joel Blomqvist back to AHL
To help make space, goalie Joel Blomqvist is going down. Nieto was nearing the end of his three-game conditioning stint and coming back to the NHL was expected. The veteran 32-year old forward has not played an NHL game in almost a full year (November 39th) due to a series of knee injuries and surgeries on both of his legs.
