Nine people have been charged with public order offences after pro-Palestinian protesters allegedly breached protest conditions as they marched from a rally in Whitehall to Trafalgar Square, breaking through a police line in the process.

These included the brutal arrest by a 10-man police snatch squad of Chris Nineham, a leading figure in the Stop the War Coalition (STWC).

Both Corbyn and McDonnell sit in the House of Commons as independent lawmakers. Corbyn quit Labour after having the whip withdrawn over his response to antisemitism allegations, while McDonnell was suspended after defying the party on a vote on child poverty.

Several thousand Pro-Palestinian supporters have taken part in a demonstration in central London. The rally - the latest UK protest organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) since the war in Gaza began in 2023 - comes as Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire and hostage release deal.
