3M is set to pay New Jersey up to $450 million over the next quarter-century to settle claims it contaminated the state with harmful “forever chemicals,” or PFAS, affecting drinking water.

The Indian arm of U.S.-based 3M Co (MMM.N) said revenue from its mainstay transportation and electronics segment, which makes power tools and cables, jumped nearly 13% to 4.13 billion rupees.

New Jersey has reached a historic settlement of up to $450 million with 3M over “forever chemicals” contaminating state water supplies, including a site in Sayreville.
