James Gunn is shutting down rumors that a Joker series starring Barry Keoghan is in the works. “Turn on threads and everyone is asking me about this. No there is absolutely no truth to this. A Joker series is not being discussed nor has even come up at this time,” Gunn shared on Threads.

Following the success of The Penguin on Max, a new report suggests that Barry Keoghan will get his own Joker series set in Matt Reeves' The Batman Universe. The villain had a brief scene in the first Batman movie but isn't confirmed to have a major role in The Batman Part II.

Gunn hopped on Meta’s Threads this weekend to fervently deny that a Joker TV show, starring the Barry Keoghan version of the villain very briefly revealed in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, was in the works.

Recently, rumors started circulating online that a potential TV candidate would be everyone’s favorite murder clown, the Joker. In Reeves’ The Batman, Barry Keoghan portrayed the clown prince in a reduced role that teased a very different new look and potential team-up with Paul Dano’s Riddler sometime down the line.

As The Batman ’s ending was unfolding, viewers saw the incarcerated Riddler hit it off with another inmate at Arkham, who was identified as this universe’s Joker. Days later, a deleted scene giving us significant screen time with Barry Keoghan’s Joker was released,
