BCHC presently has two machines — one was upgraded in 2020 and one is from 2008. The new 3-D mammography machine will replace the GE Senographe Essential from 2008, which will soon be outdated.

Smith later said that for one 3D mammography machine, the cost is $465,000. With Women Helping Women being able to contribute $300,000, the hospital will cover the rest of the machine cost.

Mammography services at Kimbrough are available to all women ages 40 and older. Screening mammograms are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. by appointment.
