The recalled dumbbell sets, called the "BowFlex 552, 52.5-lb Adjustable Dumbbells," and the "BowFlex 1090, 90-lb Adjustable Dumbbells," were sold in pairs and as single units.

The more than 3.8 million recalled units are from the models marketed as the "BowFlex 552, 52.5-lb. Adjustable Dumbbells," and the "BowFlex 1090, 90-lb. Adjustable Dumbbells," the commission said.

The recall is for two popular BowFlex adjustable dumbbell models: the Model 552 (52.5-pound adjustable dumbbells) and Model 1090 (90-pound adjustable dumbbells).

The recall involves two models: Model 522, 52.5 lb. adjustable dumbbells and Model 1090, 90 lb. adjustable dumbbells. They came in both single units and pairs.
