A section of the CTA Blue Line was shut down Friday afternoon due to debris found on the tracks, leading trains on the line to only operate between Forest Park and Jefferson Park.
The CTA said service was temporarily suspended between Damen and LaSalle due to a medical emergency on the tracks. Shortly after 8:30 a.m., trains resumed running and were bypassing the Grand station.
In February, slow zones covered some 30% of the rail system, up from 13% five years earlier. It’s one more hurdle for the CTA to overcome.
