A section of the CTA Blue Line was shut down Friday afternoon due to debris found on the tracks, leading trains on the line to only operate between Forest Park and Jefferson Park.

The CTA said service was temporarily suspended between Damen and LaSalle due to a medical emergency on the tracks. Shortly after 8:30 a.m., trains resumed running and were bypassing the Grand station.

In February, slow zones covered some 30% of the rail system, up from 13% five years earlier. It’s one more hurdle for the CTA to overcome.

She said she saw two people wearing yellow CTA vests arguing with a third man outside the Blue Line station. She said one of the men in a CTA vest shot another man, who also appeared to have a gun.
