The icons come as a zip file containing an iContainer, OS X folders, and individual icons in ICO, ICNS, and PNG format so you should have no trouble using them anywhere.

Find the app, folder, or file on your desktop that you want to change the icon for. Right-click it, and then select Get Info. A window will appear filled with all sorts of information about that file.
