At one time water to the Lang House, like many homes in Mandeville, came from artesian wells. The wells date from the 1800s and allowed the free flow of fresh, artesian water through Mandeville.

Dennis O’Connor soon had three artesian wells on his ranch, flowing at the rate of 100,000, 200,000, and 500,000 gallons a day. These were said to be the first artesian wells in South Texas.
