That's when Malcolm Denemark, FLORIDA TODAY senior photographer, snagged this moodily mystical Photo of the Week, a closeup look at the lunar goings-on over the Space Coast. "It was billed as a supermoon, blood moon, the full harvest moon and the corn moon," Denemark said.

The first nice feature is the timing of the moon show. All the interesting stuff happens before 11 p.m. So what is this moon all about? It’s a full moon with a notable name. And it’s going to be partially eclipsed. The moon is also a “supermoon.”

"Unlike a solar eclipse, you don't have to go anyplace special to see it," said Stony Brook astronomy professor Fredrick Walter. "You just need clear skies."
