Pyogenic granulomas are noncancerous growths that may appear on the skin following skin injury or hormonal changes. Treatment may only be necessary if they bleed or are in sensitive areas.

A pyogenic granuloma in pregnancy is called granuloma gravidarum and it can affect up to five pregnant women in every 100, usually in the second trimester or third trimester (DermNet 2021, Tidy 2023).
