Just two months after an effort to legalize recreational marijuana in Florida failed, a new push has begun. Smart & Safe Florida has gone back to the drawing board and put forth a renewed effort to legalize recreational cannabis in 2026.

The fight over recreational marijuana is back in Florida, with advocates rolling out a revamped proposal for the 2026 ballot.

It would allow those who are at least 21 years old to possess up to two ounces of marijuana or five grams in concentrated form.

Amendment 3 fell just shy of the 60% support required to pass. Smart and Safe Florida filed a revamped proposal Tuesday, with some new changes from the hotly contested 2024 version.
