The U.S. Mint will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sacagawea dollar by issuing a limited-edition Proof half-ounce .9999 fine gold dollar coin.

The coins, which pay tribute to the Native American heroine Sacagawea, can remain in circulation more than 20 times longer than paper dollars, which the Federal Reserve must pay to shred and replace.
