Thousands of homes remain without power and travel disruption is continuing in Scotland in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn, which swept across the country on Friday. SP Energy Networks said its engineers had worked through the night to restore power to homes after winds of up to 100mph caused “extensive damage” to the electricity network.

Roads and bridges have been closed across Scotland as 100mph winds batter the country. Police have confirmed that there have been several collisions due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Eowyn. It comes as hurricane-force winds continue to batter Scotland as Storm Eowyn arrives.

Storm Eowyn Friday continued to cause power outages for hundreds of thousands, knocked down trees and disrupted transportation as it moved across Scotland and Northern Ireland into Britain's West Midlands region.
