In May 2025, home-cooked vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali costs fell by 6 per cent year-on-year, driven by declining vegetable prices, due to drop in tomato, potato and broiler chicken prices.

The report released on Thursday stated that the average price of a home-made vegetarian thali slipped to Rs 26.2 in May 2025, down from Rs 26.3 in April and Rs 27.8 in the same month last year.

The cost of a home-cooked veg thali stood at Rs 26.3, while that of a non-veg thali was at Rs 53.9 in April 2025.
