Julen Lopetegui has been fired by West Ham after less than a year in the job and with the Premier League club in danger of being dragged into a relegation fight.

There will be no more bubbles blown for Julen Lopetegui at West Ham, who fired the Spanish coach on Wednesday and announced Graham Potter as his replacement. Potter has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and was unveiled as the club’s new manager at a press conference on Thursday.

West Ham have sacked manager Julen Lopetegui after just six months in charge. Former Wolves boss Lopetegui, 58, was appointed in May following the departure of David Moyes but officially took charge on 1 July. The Hammers won just six Premier League games during the Spaniard's tenure.

West Ham have been a bit of a mess this season and Graham Potter has a fair bit of work to do. Some of the results have been OK but others have been catastrophic. They have the players to do so, but there has been no confidence or belief,

There was a time when Lucas Paqueta would only fleetingly show the offensive traits that made him a valuable asset to West Ham United. But two games into the Graham Potter era and those redeeming features are now the norm rather than an exception.
