The Gemini AI assistant will now be included in Workspace subscriptions, a sign generative AI is fast becoming table stakes in office apps. Meanwhile, Google is bumping up prices for its paid Workspace plans.

Instead of a $20 or $30 standalone plan, Google added a few dollars to its business tiers and applied the Gemini generative AI to all plans.

Google is extending Gemini features to all Workspace subscribers and increasing the price of all Business and Enterprise plans.

Gemini AI is now bundled into all Google Workspace Business and Enterprise plans. The separate $20 Gemini add-on is being eliminated, and its features are now included in the standard Workspace subscriptions.

There is a catch, though: as it makes this change, Google is increasing the price of all Workspace plans. Jerry Dischler, Google’s president of cloud applications, tells me companies will pay roughly $2 more per month per user for the AI-enabled Workspace than they were paying before.

Google stated in the early hours of Wednesday that all AI features in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Meet are now free of charge for Workspace customers, though the plan will cost an additional $2 per month per person.
