A remarkable set of prehistoric rock art sites likely provided hunter-gatherers with an enchanting "multisensory experience" thanks to their special acoustic properties, a study has revealed.

This art was produced by hunter-gatherers and it is generally considered to refer to the spirit-world and the activities of shamans therein. The results from our research shows two things.

A number of prehistoric (5000–1500 BCE) rock paintings exist in Finland, mostly in the southeastern part of the country.
