The Jaguars' failed pursuit of Ben Johnson gets an interesting Trent Baalke update now that the dust has settled.

The Jaguars and Lions were tracking almost identically until about 14 months ago, but Detroit's build had a much sturdier foundation.

Before the Raiders fired general manager Tom Telesco, it was reported that Johnson was "intrigued by" possibly joining the Jaguars "but might want his own general manager in place" instead of Baalke. With Baalke as the GM, Jacksonville went 25-43 with a single playoff victory from 2021 through Week 18 of this season.
