Tuesday evening, if you happened to be looking up, you may have seen some rainbow-esqe clouds high in the sky.

A beautiful and relatively rare sight was captured Wednesday evening over Palm Beach County as a rainbow cloud formed.

A rainbow cloud is a similar rainbow, halo, sundog, circumhorizontal arc, because it forms due to the diffraction or refraction of light. In 2018, a similar "fire rainbow" was spotted in Vermont.

The multi-colored clouds are known as polar stratospheric clouds (PSCs) and look similar to auroras blazing in the sky. However, these rainbow clouds aren't auroras as you might think.
