Hospital employee still has questions after deal to keep Sharon Regional open
SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Two-and-a-half weeks after Sharon Regional Medical Center abruptly closed its doors, we’re told a deal is now in place for new ownership of the hospital. Sharon Regional’s chief of surgery says while the news is positive, there are still more questions than answers.
Sharon Regional settlement agreement approved
According to Medical Properties Trust, or MPT, the company which owns the hospital building and land -- the deal should allow Sharon Regional to successfully resume operations in the coming days.
Sharon Regional Medical Center to reopen after court settlement
This all comes after Sharon Regional's for-profit owner, Steward Health System, filed for bankruptcy in May. The judge's approval allows the hospital to reopen under the ownership of a nonprofit, Tenor Health Foundation. Bryan Burklow is Tenor's chief transformation officer.

Sharon Regional Medical Center, shuttered earlier this month, could reopen in the coming weeks after a settlement between the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office and the owner of the property and the sale of the hospital operations to a California company.
