As the Patriots sit in a strong position to strike in free agency and in the trade market, they’ve been speculated to be a potential landing spot for a handful of top players. Oddsmakers believe that’s the case as well, listing the Patriots as the favorite or one of the favorites to land several of the top available players this offseason.

Despite the Patriots' lush assets, there's a problem that doesn't jump off the budget sheet. NBC Sports Boston's Tom Curran explained why New England may not have much luck in free agency or a blockbuster trade.

Even though Metcalf has reportedly requested a trade, it takes two to make a deal. And according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Seahawks are looking for a first- and third-round pick in a potential Metcalf trade. In addition, Metcalf is looking for a salary of $30 million per season in his next contract, per Russini.
