About 40 apartments were destroyed, but no one was believed to be seriously hurt, at an apartment complex fire Thursday on Hillcroft Street in the Gulfton area, Houston Fire Department officials said.

While former Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley won’t be getting her job back, she’ll remain at the department under a lower rank, officials confirmed. According to the department, Crowley’s new title is Assistant Chief of LAFD’s Operations Valley Bureau.

Firefighters are still putting out hot spots at the scene of a raging, 3-alarm apartment fire in southwest Houston.
