CARDIFF and Leeds fans have united for an incredible Sol Bamba tribute after the ex-Prem star’s death aged 39. Bamba died aged just 39 last month while working for Turkish side Adanaspor.

Sol Bamba, who has died at 39, was a former Leeds United, Cardiff City and Hibernian defender who overcame non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2021 but succumbed to the cancer in Turkey, where he had been coaching the local first division team Adanaspor.

Sol Bamba, the former Leeds United, Leicester City, Cardiff City and Hibernian defender, has died at the age of 39. The Ivory Coast centre-back, who began his career with Paris St-Germain and also played for Dunfermline and Middlesbrough, was part of the Cardiff side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2018.

His wife Chloe, their children, and his mother Sehrata carried flowers on to the pitch ahead of kick-off while Neil Warnock, who he won promotion to the Premier League with, was also present.

Bamba, a former captain of both Cardiff City and Leeds United, tragically passed away three weeks ago at the age of 39. His memory was honoured in a powerful moment this afternoon as fans from all sides joined together in a resounding round of applause and cheers,
