BUFFALO, N.Y. — James Reimer has been an NHL mainstay since the 2011-12 season, playing for five different teams and starting at least 20 games in each season. Now the 36-year-old goalie has a chance to extend that streak with a sixth team after signing a $1 million contract with the Buffalo Sabres this summer.

The Buffalo Sabres announced Tuesday they agreed to terms with Peyton Krebs on a two-year extension that will pay the forward an average annual value of $1.45 million.

Forward Peyton Krebs and the Buffalo Sabres have finally struck an extension deal just before the training camp.

Krebs was the Sabres’ lone restricted free agent who hadn’t signed his qualifying offer. The Sabres tendered him an $874,125 qualifying offer, but Krebs wanted a longer term and more money and managed to get both with this contract. The Sabres now have just under $7 million in cap space, according to Puck Pedia.

Primarily used as a fourth-line center since his trade from the Vegas Golden Knights in November 2021, Krebs has 22 goals and 62 points in 202 games in the NHL.
