Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a one-year-old baby. Emergency services raced to a home in the New Bilton area of Rugby, Warwickshire, at about 4.30am on Tuesday over reports of a baby in cardiac arrest. Police have now arrested a 24-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

The man is due to appear in before Midleton District Court on Thursday 9 January. A man in his 40s was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a woman in County Cork. A woman in her 30s is believed to have been attacked near a city centre soup kitchen on Sunday.
