The new Honda electric two-wheeler manufacturing facility will be functional by 2028 and the products built at this plant will be exported to several countries overseas.

Honda is aiming to take the largest share in the electric two-wheeler market in India by the end of this decade.

The Japanese automaker has discussed this plan and other initiatives planned to increase its electric two-wheeler penetration in India during the coming years. The eventual goal is to achieve market leadership in a segment where local players have already strengthened their positions.

Japanese auto major Honda Motor Japan on Tuesday said that it will begin operating a dedicated electric motorcycle production plant in India by 2028. The plant will produce a wide variety of electric two-wheelers by combining modules that are common for multiple models.

Honda aims to become the top two-wheeler player in India, leveraging EVs, scooters & motorcycles. The company is expanding its network and production to capture the growing electric market.

The company, which parted ways in 2011 with erstwhile partner Hero MotoCorp — the current market leader, said it will also strive to capture the largest market share in the electric two-wheeler segment in India,
