The woman hit by a Houston patrol car late Thursday in front of her three children has died, according to officials with the police department. Two officers in the North Patrol Division hot spot unit were taking someone they had just arrested in a narcotics investigation to the jail around 9:55 p.

Jeanette Benthall of Largo died of her injuries following a crash with an on-duty county police officer Sept. 9.

A 41-year-old woman died after she was struck by a Houston Police Department patrol vehicle late Thursday. North Patrol Division officers were transporting an arrested person to the jail processing center near the 5300 block of Antoine Drive around 10 p.m. Thursday.

Houston police are investigating after one of their own officers drove into a woman in the middle of the road in northwest Houston late Thursday night, killing her. Around 10 p.m., two officers assigned to the hotspot division had just made a drug arrest on De Soto Street and were in the process of transporting the suspect to the Harris County Jail.
