To many, Dec. 26 is simply the day after Christmas, the second night of Hanukkah. But to others, it's Boxing Day. The Dec. 26 holiday is celebrated each year by the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries including Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Crowds of swimmers have braved the cold waters of the English Channel for a festive dip in the sea. The Ventnor Boxing Day swim is an annual tradition on the Isle of Wight. The conditions were good for the swim, which began at midday. The event, which has run since 1980, draws hundreds of spectators to Ventnor, the island's most southernmost beach.

Boxing Day is celebrated each year on the day after Christmas, on Dec. 26. It's not a holiday that made its way to the U.S.
