Iowa football’s quarterback room became a lot more competitive on  Tuesday. South Dakota State quarterback Mark Gronowski will transfer to the Hawkeyes. Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports was first to report the news and Gronowski confirmed via a social media post.

Former South Dakota State star quarterback Mark Gronowski, the top QB remaining in the portal, has committed to Iowa, he told ESPN.

Gronowski, the reigning FCS player of the year, entered the transfer portal last week and weighed playing one more college football season or entering the NFL. Four weeks ago, Gronowski accepted an invitation to compete in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
