Ullmark won't be with the team on the upcoming five-game road trip, so the Senators called up two goalies from the AHL's Belleville Senators on Friday morning.

Ottawa Senators goalie Linus Ullmark won’t play Saturday in Winnipeg. Or Sunday in Minnesota. Maybe not Jan. 2 in Dallas or Jan. 3 in St. Louis. What about Jan. 7 in Detroit? We don’t really know when Ullmark, whose back “tightened up” in a Dec. 22 game in Edmonton, will play again or how long he’ll be out for.

The Senators’ emergency goaltender was Zach Dietz, a University of Ottawa backup, but he wasn’t on the ice for warmup. Dietz was at the game with his girlfriend and was wearing a No. 9 Josh Norris jersey before he was called into service.

Twenty minutes into the club’s 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday at Rogers Place, goaltender Linus Ullmark left the game with a back issue and didn’t return as the backup as the club’s six-game winning streak came to an end.

The Senators will now resume game action without the former Vezina Trophy-winning goalie. The team kicks off their end of the year schedule with a five-game road trip that begins
