Hello blacksqrrl. I spent the better part of yesterday test driving the CR-V, RAV4 4-cyl and RAV4 V6. I drove the Rav I-4 first: nice, but on the highway I noticed more engine noise a a distinct drone noise behind the seat or in the rear. Higher RPM also than the V6. The V6 with 5 speed was SWEET! Quiet, rode nicer, EVERYTHING! The CR-V was last.

Toyota made a change to the 4 cylinder equipped RAV4 models in 2009. The new 2.5 engine does not appear to have the oil consumption problems mentioned by those having earlier models. My RAV4 (2009) just clicked over 30,000 miles and I just did the 5th oil change.

I recently replaced the stock bridgestone run flat tires on my 2010 toyota rav4. Only had 20,000 miles on them and they were worn out. They were horrible in the snow since new. The worst tires I ever had on a vehicle. Just replaced with the continental dws contra and bought a 17" rim for the base rav4 off of ebay as a spare for 90 bucks.

May 2, 2013 · The image of Toyota builds the most reliable car has faded away in my mind. What a shame! Toyota should recall the cars fall into the service bulletin and have the problem fixed. Advise to all Rav4 owner, check your car oil level every month before the engine fails on you.

Fixed Leak in Rav4 AC condensate water on the floor !! All it was - a plugged by spider nest or coocoon drain rubber hose. Apparently if it gets plugged (even partially) the drain water will find its way out through the blower fan assembly, which is right behind and above the center console.

Have 2006 rav4, 4cyl, 4wd, 118k miles: it has a real loud rattle/drone/noise sounds like from around the transmission area. It is way more than a whine. Toyota place and non toyota said they think it is the transmission for which is $2000 to $5000. There is a TSB on the 6cyl's that replaces the ECM for a drone noise.

BTW, my vehicle is a 2012 six cylinder with only 4,100 miles. Southeast Toyota's reply was that the smart key has to have about three or four components all acting in sync at the same time for it to operate as designed.
