McKee doesn't have cardio for a hard 5 rounds, he doesn't have very good striking, and he doesn't have the wrestling to beat elite UFC guys on the ground. At the least, he'd be a moderate to heavy underdog vs Volk, Max, Yair, Ortega, Allen, Emmet, Kattar, Topuria

This is a good fight for AJ McKee testing the waters at 155. Spike is big, aggressive, and whitesplosive but has severe cardio and technique limitations. If AJ is training seriously, building up his body the right way, and fights smart, he should wipe the floor with Spike.

That AJ McKee is something special. I can't believe that the Pitbull title fight was the last fight on his Bellator contract. After the bout, McKee was discussing how well he matched up against Volkonovski and Ortega; as if to imply that he has been strongly considering the UFC.

Dec 26, 2022 · MMA seems like most champs are in their early 30s - AJ McKee and Christian Lee are two of the youngest I can think of so they're outliers. With BJJ there's not the money so I'm not sure how that influences things from a longevity standpoint.. most IBJJF champs move on …
