Sep 20, 2024 · The case lid does feel a little cheaper when closing than the OG Airpods for sure. Apple definitely saved some $ there. But overall I would recommend these over the Airpods Pro unless you specifically want the rubber tips. If you liked the original AirPods at all, and your ears fit the profile, these are fantastic. I give em a 9/10.

I already own 2 pairs of first generation Apple AirPods. Last Sunday, I bought some AirPods clones in a Chinese electronics store for $24 + tax. They are as good as my Apple AirPods. They look 100% the same.

If Apple wanted to cull their headphone SKUs they could just kill the Max. But then there's the dozens upon dozens of Beats headphone SKUs since each of those come in a lot of colors.

There's a reason why I can guarantee the sale figures for those two products are not even in the same universe. You yourself just said you feel the "Apple Tax" is legit with AirPods.
