X870E only differentiates itself because:-USB4 is now required, however this is done via a separate controller that is not actually part of the X870E chipset. Nov 14, 2018 · Asrock and Asus support ECC on all AM4 boards I believe. MSI doesn't support ECC at all from what I know. Gigabyte only supports ECC on boads with higher layer counts which would include the X470 Gaming 7, and some older boards too like AX370 Gaming 5 and the K7. Some ITX boards might work too.

Some boards give extra USB or SATA ports beyond the basics included in the Ryzen spec, and those all add up. The efficiency of the power supply is going to be a factor, too.
