John McGee was an Admiral in the United States Navy and also the estranged father of NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee and Sarah McGee as well as the grandfather of John McGee II and Morgan McGee. He was also the son of Nelson McGee and Penelope Langston and the father-in-law of Delilah Fielding.

McGee Monuments was started in 1900 by John H. McGee at its current location on State Street. His son Franklin McGee inherited the family business in 1936. Mr. J. Warren McGee sold the business to Donald M. Rath and Robert J. Leonard in 1984.

After the death of John McGee in 1810 his widow Mary McGee (called Mollie by her husband) and her oldest son James, went to Monroe County, Mis souri and made their home there.
