They are all narrow, but the Chief and the Taylorcraft seem roomier because of the wheel, where the Luscombe has a stick you need to maneuver around. Make sure you have extra tanks. A lot of those planes had only 11 or 12 gallons usable.

Aug 30, 2016 · The Luscombe has a narrower cabin than the 140, but the 140 is tight as well. The 140 is more comfortable for sure. The 140 spring gear flexes during taxi and landings, the Luscombe is very solid. I preferred the Luscombe here. Both planes have large support groups, but I'd say the 140 forum is a lot more detailed.

If you were landing that well in a Luscombe in that crosswind, you are doing well and don't need advice from an Internet forum. As to landing on one side of the runway...my husband has landed his 8A on the left side for 35 years.

You don’t know enough to know what you need, much less where the ownership bear traps are. Still, a survey of barnstormer, aero-trader, & others will get you a range.

Back in the late 90's there was a series of law suits between The Don Luscombe Aviation History Foundation and Renaissance Aircraft LLC. Renaissance eventually won and was supposed to start producing new Luscombes but it never panned out.

Many years ago when I worked at Gila Bend AFAF, AZ, we had a Luscombe make a landing by mistake (it's a military base closed to civilian traffic). I enjoyed talking to the pilot. They are a neat design.
